Matthew Shocked Us With His Story About Peyote, A Shaman, And A Mountain Lion

Matthew McConaughey went into detail about a lot of his maximum arguable and scaring stories while on The Howard Stern Show in October 2020. A few of those tales made it transparent that the legendary radio show host believes that Matthew is in full need of intensive therapy. But Matthew's tale about his encounter with a mountain lion used to be nothing new. He actually described his come across with the wild cat while on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon back in January 2020. However, he gave Howard Stern much better main points...

"There's a thing in the book," Howard started. "I forget what drug you were on. But you spend the night in Mexico in a cage with a lion? A mountain lion."

"Peyote," Matthew replied simply, remembering back to a story that happened to him about 14 years prior.

"Describe to me... You were on Peyote..."

"So, at sunrise that morning, I went with a shaman on a solo trip. A walk up this mountain. About a six-mile hike," Matthew began to describe. "And as a good shaman will do, to disseminate the peyote in small, small douses along the way. And to go do something physically active is a very smart thing out there if you're ever going to do peyote. Don't just lock yourself in your room. You might implode."

The ease at which Matthew was describing this tale had Howard Stern and his longtime co-host Robin Quivers stunned.

"We returned to this shaman's house and he had this cage with a full-grown mountain lion in it," Matthew went on. "I went up to the edge of the cage started to get the idea that I was going to get on the same frequency as this mountain lion."

Matthew described how he was listening to the mountain lion growl and make noises and he growled again. He even got down on the flooring in entrance of it (which you probably must never do with a wild cat).

"About thirty minutes go by and finally that lion comes over to [the edge of] the cage and he comes through..."

The Interstellar actor then began to rub the lion beneath its chin. And, fortunately for Matthew, the lion seemed to like it... But then Matthew got the bright idea that he was once going to get into the cage with the lion...

Peyote does loopy things!

Matthew slowly moved into the gate and much more slowly made his approach into the cage.

"I'm moving extremely slowly while this mountain lion is pacing on the other side of the cage. Now I'm in. And I'm like 'Keep your cool, stay on the frequency here'. Cut to two hours later, that sonnab***h was laying in my lap purring."

"What!?" Howard stated shocked.

"Yeah. Laying in my lap purring!"

Matthew ended up putting out in that cage for just about three full hours with the slightly domesticated wild animal.

"It made complete sense at the time and it worked."

"There was no fear on your mind that this predator was going to eat you?" Howard requested.

"Yeah. I mean, a little bit of fear. I knew that the cat and I, that mountain lion, were communicating at the time. But I was smart enough to know that the cat-mountain lion-was not starving. Alright? It had been fed."
