In 2019, it seemed that Constance Wu thought she was "too excellent" for Fresh Off the Boat, the TV series that made her famous. After the news broke that the series was being renewed for a sixth season, Wu tweeted, “So upset right now that I’m literally crying. Ugh. F***.” She followed that with, "F***ing Hell".
A follower then tweeted to her, “Congrats on your renewal! Great news :)” . Her reply, which has since been deleted said, “No it’s not.”
She tried to clarify afterwards, saying in a statement “I love FOTB. I was temporarily upset yesterday not bc I hate the show but bc its renewal meant I had to give up another project that I was really passionate about. So my dismayed social media replies were more about that other project and not about FOTB. But I understand how that could feel interconnected and could get muddled." She then added, “I do be apologetic about that and it wasn’t nice and I am sorry for that.”

Both enthusiasts and Constance Wu's Fresh Off the Boat colleagues, did not respect Wu's damaging tweets about the show being renewed. Constance Wu is now revealing that she was sexually harassed on the set of the TV series.
She says, “What people didn’t realize was that during my first couple of years on ‘Fresh Off the Boat,’ I was sexually harassed, and I was intimidated, and I was threatened all the time," by a producer on the display.
She continued, "This producer, he is an Asian American, but because this show was sort of a beacon of representation for Asian Americans, and I sort of, became a symbol of representation, I didn’t want to sully the one show with sexual harassment claims against the one Asian American man who was doing all this better work for the community.”
She said, in her book, that this producer talk her into going to an LA Lakers game with him. At the game, he touched her thigh and grazed her crotch. She writes that once the show was a success, she felt comfortable telling him to stop because she was no longer afraid to lose her job.
3 Constance Wu's Sexual Assualt Allegations
Constance Wu shared something else about her past. She said she was raped at 22 years old but did not realize it was rape at the time. It happened on a second date with a man.
She shared, "So I said, 'No really, I'm not in a position to have intercourse.' I used clear language. But he did not fight me, he simply became so gentle. He kissed me on the forehead, he became being so loving and gentle. And then he just did it anyway."
She talked about why she didn't realize it was rape, "I didn't sign in it as rape because we're so used to considering of it as violence. It changed into a quiet enjoy. Even despite the fact that my words have been clear, him having intercourse with me changed into quiet."

Constance Wu is back on social media after her three-year absence. She has written Making a Scene to tell her story.
She is also starring in The Terminal List, a suspense drama on Amazon Prime.
