"But it’s like having a front seat at the patriarchy, up close and personal. I knew what that meant. I couldn’t live that life with this man and be a true feminist because I wasn’t being true to my own self."
But Jane's love of those extremely sturdy and tough male figures is additionally in part what drew her to Lily Tomlin. After all, each Lily and the men in Jane's life had exhausting exteriors and the propensity for having barbed-wire tongues. According to Vulture, Jane consents that there is a connection there.
"[My love of Lily] started the first time I ever saw her onstage. I was not a television person. I wanted to attach myself to her in whatever way I could," Jane said earlier than explaining why she sought after Lily in 9 To 5. "I said to myself, 'I don’t want to make a movie about secretaries unless she’s in it.' Now it’s become, 'I don’t want to ever work again unless she’s in it.'"

We shot a scene in 80 for Brady [recently] where myself, Lily, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno are in bed in a motel. I’m in bed with her, and without even thinking about it, I spooned her. It just felt really great. I don’t know of another actor I’d do that with."

Grace and Frankie fell into our laps like a present from heaven. I assume the time will come once I won’t be capable to ambulate. And then I’ll slowly fade from the view of the public."
"Chronological age is meaningless," Jane added. "My dad died six years previous than I'm now. He appeared so previous because he had a middle disease. Health is key. Rita Moreno is 90. You would never know. It’s about staying relevant, staying up with the days, looking respectable and then throw slightly good fortune in there."
