Kristen Stewart Explains Why She Felt 'Spooky And Weird' As Princess Diana

Spooky season is upon us!

So is another Princess Diana movie: 'Spencer,' starring (rumored newlywed) Kristen Stewart. Kristen is almost UNRECOGNIZABLE as Diana. As if that wasn't eerie enough, the actress just admitted to feeling some unexpected spiritual vibes while embodying the people's princess.

Kristen is really open about her acting experiences, often revealing some pretty vulnerable stuff. "Dude, I have no idea what I’m doing and that’s kind of how I love it," she once told Marie Claire. "It’s fun, but it’s scary as f**k. If it’s not scary, it’s usually – you have to kind of step back and go, 'you’re probably making this decision because it’s right on paper,' but unless you get that irking fear than it’s not right."

This particular role scared her for more reasons than one. Read on to learn why K-Stew felt spooked while playing Princess Di (and if other actresses agree).

She Says Diana's Spirit Was Contagious

Kristen appeared live at a 'Spencer' screening and some fans nabbed video footage from the audience. One of their clips starts with Kristen being lost for words during a post-screening interview. She struggles to describe a feeling that she's "never" experienced in a role before, eventually admitting how Diana's presence seemed to fill her up.

"I felt tall playing her, I felt like beautiful which sounds lame," Kristen began. "I really did just feel like her ability to like, become closer to people was so contagious. And it was spooky and weird but I took it on."

Other 'Dianas' Actually Agree

Kristen isn't the only one who felt changed by Diana's character. Emma Corrin told The Guardian "something shifted in the room" when she first read for the role.

"It was as if it wasn’t me there," she said, confirming what her interview claims- that she "inhabited" Diana's character so fully that she herself felt "invisible."

Elizabeth Debiki just replaced Emma on 'The Crown' and has similar opinions about the role's power. "She’s like a symbol—like a magical person," Elizabeth said this summer, referencing Diana's "incredible power" to "illuminate" everyone she came into contact with.

Naomi Watts' experience is closest to Kristen's. You ready for this? Here's what she said in a press conference for 2013's 'Diana' biopic:

"There were definitely moments when I felt Diana's presence – I dreamed about her a lot, too, and that's a first. I found myself constantly asking for her permission to carry on. It felt like I was spending a lot of time with her. There was one particular moment when I felt her permission was granted. That won't sound right in print, I know."

Kristen Knows She Sounds Nuts

Like Naomi, Kristen is well aware how weird her claims might sound. She almost doesn't believe them herself!

"Even if I'm just making this up and I'm a kook, that's a nice idea to live with," Kristen offered in her live interview. "It's like really nice skin to wear."

She said that Diana's empowering 'skin' actually made it easier to shoot difficult scenes.

"Even if you're like running around in the freezing cold in like horrible stuff that sucks," she explained, gesturing to her body and referencing the uncomfortable costumes she wore as Diana. "It felt good. It felt so good. I would love to do it again."

From what the trailers show, 'Spencer' features challenging scenes where Kristen had to wear wool turtlenecks, pearl chokers, and a replica of that iconic David and Elizabeth Emmanuel wedding dress. (Yep, that one with the 25-foot train and 153-yard tulle veil.)

Fans Feel An Oscar Coming

Worried about Kristen pulling off an English accent? Wonder if she can actually convince you she's Diana? Apparently she can do it all. Critics and fans are buzzing over Kristen's potential to sweep awards season with her hauntingly good transformation. She might have sensed the late princess, but fans are sensing an Oscar nod.

"I just saw the teaser trailer for #Spencer & a 5 minute clip from the film," one fan writes on Twitter. "Based on the footage, it looks like Kristen Stewart will be getting an Oscar nomination for her performance as Diana. I’m feeling very confident that this is going to be #KristenStewart’s big moment."

"WOW. Cannot wait to see the rest," agreed another fan. "Kristen Stewart nails it...I sense an Oscar nod in her future."

Comment sections on the IG account of the film's production company (NEON) are full of messages like "Go win the Oscar Kristen!" and "Oscar Winner," plus loads of emoji trophies and stars.

We can't help but wonder- did feeling Diana's presence give K-Stew that edge? As one top comment on NEON's Insta reads, "Kristen radiates so much power in every frame." Hmm...
